Was George justified in killing Lennie?

George was justify of killing Lennie because if George would of not liked him than Curly and Carlson would of tortured him and make him die the hard way. If George escaped with Lennie, then he would of ended up doing something wrong again like killing someone else like a Cop and they would be most wanted in California and any state around California . They would never have any  peace if they know there's people out there on the look out .
